Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Young school children should be required to study art and music in addition to math, language, science, and history.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Since I could remember, there has been no shortage of opinions about young children’s education. Some argue that young school children should focus on studying math, language, science, and history, while others maintain that art and music should also be made mandatory. As far as I can judge, art and music are indeed useful, so I support the former view that young children should be required to study art and music in addition to their major subjects. To be provided are two main reasons that I believe can best support my perspective on this topic.
First of all, art and music courses can help talented children tap their potentials. There must be several children with certain talents in a class who might eventually become artists or musicians in the future if they are properly trained. With art and music added to the school curriculum, teachers can help these gifted children identify their interests and talents early in their life, and in the meantime help them pave the way for a future career as professional artists. Unfortunately, many young children in our country are not able to receive proper art training because the school is too poor to afford an art teacher. And as a result, many talented young children are sadly missing out on their opportunities to pursue art-related careers.
